hmmmm. Yes. My day has not been so great, either. There are some days when you need to throw Amnesiac in the CD player and just forget about it all. At least for 45 minutes.
When Lowen returned to consciousness in the hospital after his leg surgery several years ago the first thing he wanted to know was did I have the new Radiohead CD for him as promised. It was Amnesiac. To this day I'm sure that album transports him back to the Percocet-induced stupor he was in for several days following the trauma of having his leg bone rebroken.
Amnesiac is such an appropriate name for the album.
But...it snowed here last night. The world is white and clean.
I love snow. It brings people out of their houses. They go sledding down hills. They stand in clumps watching the kids throw snowballs at each other. The world fades into muted tones, so that all you can hear is the crunch, crunch of the cold powder beneath your feet. The trees anoint your head with a free-fall of shifting showers. My cup overflows.
I like words, images, graphic design, well-turned phrases, doodling, humor and profundity. These are found in every quarter and I'm always on the hunt. I was rescued (in November, 1974) from guilt and a stubborn irrational belief in an impersonal chance universe (with the accompanying hopelessness). I'm now convinced that nothing is more obvious or worthy of our attention than our Creator and the one true ancient path. Only Jesus has the words of everlasting life. Like John Newton "I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see."
