when i read this quote, I smiled... i know that sounds cliche but I did. and then i smiled longer when i realized it was said by helen keller.
i really enjoyed my spring break and i think i decided i like the real world a lot better then the college world. I do love it here...i just feel more of myself out there...putting all my ideas to use.
I don't have a real high view of college, and yet it seems a "necessary evil." It seems such a manufactured, artificial, insulated, make believe kind of world, hoops to be jumped through...there are lots of institutional things like that in life, it seems. Always trying to earn something. A lot of "Emperor with no clothes on" situations. God, family, friends, relationship, service, that's the REAL stuff of life.
yeah, but you can find God, family, friends, relationship, and service at college, too...I think it just depends on what context you want to find them in.
this quotation is a thought-provoking statement. i thought it was especially worth consideration because of who said it. some people really do gain wisdom and insight from their college years. but for many a college education can be a huge waste of time and resources. it doesn't automatically lead to a positive outcome, and it certainly isn't the cure-all that many consider it to be. i really appreciate the feedback from the peanut gallery. thanks ladies.
I like words, images, graphic design, well-turned phrases, doodling, humor and profundity. These are found in every quarter and I'm always on the hunt. I was rescued (in November, 1974) from guilt and a stubborn irrational belief in an impersonal chance universe (with the accompanying hopelessness). I'm now convinced that nothing is more obvious or worthy of our attention than our Creator and the one true ancient path. Only Jesus has the words of everlasting life. Like John Newton "I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see."

Nothing but Jesus is the cure-all.
