I believe that pluralistic
secularism, in the long run,
is a more deadly poison than
straightforward persecution.

I think Schaffy is talking about the vitality of the church. When openly persecuted (such as in China or Africa), the church grows rather explosively, because only people who are committed to dying for their faith will join. In a pluralistic "I'm okay, you're okay" society, the church is more prone to fill up with more apathetic individuals.

And to add injury to insult I hear you're feeling sickly. James has strep and has been home from school for two days. I picked him up from the nurse's office yesterday morning and he says to me with an air of maturity..."So disappointing." Hope you both feel better soon.

Are you feeling any better now Mr. Howard?

I know just how you feel about about the name. People ask me ALL THE TIME why I named my baby after Angelina's (Zahara and Zara sound similar) and did I name Jude after Jude Law - anyway, in inrages me because I don't like the hollywood crowd much and I really wish people knew that Jude is a bible name!!!

jude is a great name. i'd use it in a heartbeat. but can you believe the competition among celebrities these days to see who can come up with the coolest name?
my heart sank back when toyota christened their minivan the sienna. and then, more recently, when sienna miller stepped onto the gossip stage as hollywood's new "it" girl. oh well. (interesting how angelina and jude law are tied to both of our laments.)

Hmmm...and then I went and bought one. I actually like the fact that my car is named after my niece. It reminds me of her when I say it. Can't say that I have such a regular reminder of my other nieces and nephews. James is still coughing, spewing and sniffling. We'll be home this morning.

Yes! Hilarious. At least we can have pity on each other. :)

Naming children is one of the most fun things in the whole entire world. How did you guys pick your kids names?
