Winslow Homer, Snap the Whip

If you want to see what children can
do, you must stop giving them things.

I am blown away by this quote. Who of the Howards could ever forget the intricate details of a doll house Sienna and Kyrie made out of cardboard boxes when they were little or, currently, Jedd's magnificient sprawling treefort. Kids NEED legos, blocks, art supplies, books, some friends, bikes, beaches and ponds... and I think that's about it.

and who will be doing YOUR birthday tribute, Sir Damien? I am far too simple minded to even attempt it. But Happy Birthday and many happy returns of the day to you.

That's it. You're grounded.

I love this Dame!! I remember playing this when I was little...the whole neighborhood would play; we'd get like 10-12 kids in a line. The quote is spot on....
Happiest of days Damien:)

I was thinking all day yesterday how I was going to wish you happy birthay this morning before my exam, but I forgot. So now that your day is almost over, I am saying I hope it was a great day. Joe is trying to get me to make you so fudge, but Mary says it is bad for your health, so I guess it will have to wait.

Happy Birthday, I look forward to reading your blog every day!!

I'm a day late, but I just wanted to say that the Beatles say Happy Birthday.
